Luis Morales

Luis Morales graduated as a Doctor from the University CES  in Colombia  and later specialized in plastic surgery at the Hospital Barata Ribeiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He studied photography at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York.

His artistic practice emerges from reflections on space and its various relationships with the human condition, using photography as his primary medium. Morales has exhibited both individually and collectively since 1995.

Among his most notable exhibitions are those held at The BIAM Bienal internacional de Antioquia y Medellin in 2025 , Alonso Garces Bogota 2024, Aura Espacio Medellin 2021,  Nadar Gallery in Tokyo (2009) and his invitation to the III VentoSul Biennial of Curitiba (2006) among  others. He has developed several solo projects exploring notions of space, including Tránsito (Universidad Nacional, Medellín, 2009), Prótesis (Sala de Arte Suramericana, 2009), and a series of exhibitions at Alonso Garcés Gallery in Bogotá — Ipsofacto (2004), Clima Cero (2005), One Woman (2006), and Constructo (2010). Other projects include Games of Desire (2014) and The End of Space (The Merrin Gallery, New York, 2013).

He has also participated in international group shows such as Five Colombian Views in Japan, the XI Salon of Artists of the Central West Region, and the 40th National Salon of Artists.

Morales was the winner of the XI Colombo–Swiss Photography Prize, which included a large-format exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá (MAMBO) in2015.

His work is part of several public and private collections.
